General Surgery Team

Dr. Melania Yeats

Dr. Melania Yeats attended the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and completed a general surgery residency at the University of Nebraska in Omaha. She has a special interest in treating diseases of the breast, and enjoys working with women with both surgical and medical conditions of the breast. Dr. Yeats is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

Dr. James Boyd

Dr. James Boyd attended the Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and completed a general surgery residency at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. He performs the full scope of general surgery with a particular interest in the treatment of liver masses, lung tumors, artery and vein disease, and endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins. He also performs bronchoscopy, upper endoscopy, and colonoscopy. He is board certified in general surgery

 

Dr. Damon Kalcich

Dr. Damon Kalcich attended medical school at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Phoenix. After completing medical school, Dr. Kalcich did his general surgery residency at Michigan State University, Detroit Medical Center. His areas of medical interest include trauma, minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy, and colorectal care. He is board certified in general surgery.

 

Dr. Melissa Maxey

Dr. Maxey received her bachelor's degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in 2006. She completed her degree in just three years and took a year off before starting medical school to work, travel and compete in triathlons competitively. She attended New York Medical College, where she graduated with her Medical Doctorate in 2011. Dr. Maxey then moved to Columbia, South Carolina where she completed her General Surgery Residency at Palmetto health - University of South Carolina. While there, she also completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.

 

Dr. Phillip Ernest

Dr. Ernest received his Bachelor of Arts from Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona in 2004. He majored in Outdoor Education and Political and National Security Studies. He completed a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Pre-Health Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia in 2008 followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the same university in 2013. Dr. Ernest completed a General Surgery Residency from Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado earlier this year. He served as Administrative Chief during his last year of residency.

 

Alison Krueger, PA-C

Alison Krueger received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania in 2010. She graduated with her Masters in Master of Clinical Health Services from MEDEX/University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle in 2017, where she was the proud recipient of the Mary Reed Award. It's given annually to one MEDEX student who has achieved the highest GPA among all the training sites. While attending graduate school, she worked as a certified medical assistant at a neurosurgery practice, where she also served as a research assistant.

 

Erica Lankenau, PA-C

Lankenau is from Orlando, Florida and received her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando in 2012. She graduated with her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova southeastern University, also in Orlando, in 2015. Lankenau has volunteered on two medical mission trips to Honduras with Hope Worldwide, helping to diagnose and treat hundreds of patients in poverty-stricken communities. She has a special interest in dermatology, and has experience assisting in minor surgeries and procedures involving a multitude of skin conditions.
