We now offer Neurosurgery. Dr. Dominic Cannella and Dr. Paul Davis are pleased to offer a full range of neurosurgical care as the only Neurosurgeons providing these specialized services in Southern Colorado. This includes any type of cranial injury or problem involving the head; the complete spectrum of spinal problems including the neck, middle back and low back; as well as peripheral nerve problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve problems at the elbow.

Patients will be seen in the San Juan Health Partners Specialty Services office, and any needed surgery will be performed at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Patients will be able to receive post-operative care back in Durango.

One exciting option for patients is minimally invasive spine surgery with the only minimally invasive spine surgeon in the four corners region. This technique involves a very small incision, which often leads to less time spent in the hospital with less pain and a faster recovery. While not everyone is a candidate for minimally invasive surgery, patients who are experiencing difficulty walking, numbness in their arms or legs, or pain that radiates into the arms or legs may experience immediate relief from surgical management.

Dr. Cannella and Dr. Davis are accepting new patients. Call 970.444.0260 to schedule your appointment.

Relief From Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common condition that is treated often at San Juan Regional Spine Center. It’s a condition caused by a pinched nerve in the hand that can result in pain, numbness, tingling and weakness in the hand. “One of the biggest symptoms people describe is numbness and tingling that is especially severe at night. It frequently wakes people up and they have to shake or rub their hand to get relief. It can be a quite troublesome problem that really impacts quality of life,” said Dr. Dominic Cannella, Neurosurgeon at San Juan Regional Spine Center. The good news is that there are treatment options for this condition. Patient Testimonial Video: Jenilee Rowse has always been extremely active until she began experiencing debilitating pain down her leg caused by a synovial cyst on her spine. The Rowses thought they’d have to travel to Denver, Albuquerque or Phoenix for the high level of care they were seeking until a friend told them about Dr. Dominic Cannella, neurosurgeon at San Juan Regional Spine Center in Farmington. “When we went to go see Dr. Cannella, I knew within the first five minutes that he was the doctor for me." “I felt relief after surgery immediately. If I could say anything to Dr. Canella it would be thank you for giving me my life back.” Jenilee said.
