San Juan Regional Medical Center uses the latest technology to keep patients comfortable while they undergo an endoscopy. Our team of specialized doctors and experienced nurses perform a wide-range of tests and procedures to care for patients experiencing heartburn, acid reflux, colon cancer, unknown masses, or infections that are resistant to treatment. A small camera attached to a narrow tube is fed through the body to locate and diagnose issues in the lungs and digestive system.
San Juan Regional Endoscopy features a three-room operating center offering upper endoscopy and colonoscopy services. Upper endoscopy is a procedure used to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestine. The procedure is used to investigate a number of conditions including abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, anemia, blood in bowel movements and others. Colonoscopy is a procedure used to examine the large intestine. The procedure employs a colonscope to identify and correct problems in the colon.
Doctors recommend that adults age 50 and over receive regular colon screenings because the risk for colon cancer increases with age.
