Wednesday, June 8, 2011 San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital Receives ‘Top Performer’ Award

Farmington, NM
(June 8, 2011) – High marks for quality patient care were recently given to San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital (SJRRH) by Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation—a non-profit company that administers the world’s largest medical rehabilitation database and is affiliated with the University of Buffalo.

SJRRH ranked in the 94th percentile—and recognized with the ‘Top Performer Award’—as compared to nearly 800 other inpatient rehabilitation facilities measured by Uniform Data System.

“Our hospital was graded on its ability to help people with various diagnoses and disabilities regain basic functional skills—such as eating, dressing, using the bathroom, walking, and talking,” explains Ena Niemand, executive director of SJRRH.  “Each facility in the Uniform Data System database is measured by the same tools and assigned a score—and then they are ranked into percentiles. The ‘Top Performer Award’ we received is only given to those facilities that rank in the top 10 percent.

Niemand goes on to say that she believes only one other New Mexico inpatient rehabilitation facility received this prestigious award, but results are not shared among members of the Uniform Data Systems database.

“We are proud of this achievement as it shows that our hospital with its dedicated staff is able to achieve great patient care and excellent outcomes,” she says.  “San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is definitely an asset to our community.”

The San Juan Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is the only licensed and accredited acute rehabilitation hospital in the Four Corners and provides inpatient services to members of the community who need comprehensive care in occupational, physical, speech, and recreational therapy and also rehabilitation nursing. The rehabilitation hospital employs a physical medicine physician, who serves as the medical director.
