Tuesday, April 2, 2013 San Juan Regional Medical Center to Offer Low-Cost Blood Screenings on April 24

April 2, 2013 – San Juan Regional Medical Center will provide low-cost blood screenings for adults 18 and over on Wednesday, April 24 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at San Juan College’s Henderson Fine Arts building, room 9006. Screening options will again include a combined hemoglobin and hematocrit test.

The hemoglobin test is often used to screen for and help diagnose conditions that affect red blood cells, such as anemia. The hematocrit test is often used to screen for, diagnose, or monitor a number of conditions and diseases that affect the proportion of the blood made up of red blood cells.

The complete list of tests available include a comprehensive metabolic panel for $15; a lipid profile for $10; a thyroid profile for $10; a prostate screening for $10; and the hemoglobin and hematocrit screening for $10. Cash or checks are the only available methods of payment; no credit cards will be accepted.

Adults who would like to take advantage of the low-cost blood screenings are asked to fast for 12 hours before the test to ensure accuracy; water is permitted. All blood draws are done on a first come, first served basis. Test results will be mailed to the person receiving the test within two weeks, and can be taken to and discussed with a healthcare provider. All testing will be done by San Juan Regional Medical Center staff as a public service. For more information, visit sanjuanregional.com or call 505.609.6449.
