Monday, August 12, 2013 San Juan Regional Medical Center Invites Public to Open House for New Neuro-Spine Program August 20
San Juan Regional Medical Center’s new Neuro-Spine Program offers the community a highly coordinated program for back and neck pain-sufferers.

The public is invited to attend an open house for the Neuro-Spine Program at its outpatient headquarters, San Juan Health Partners Neurosciences (407 South Schwartz Avenue in Farmington, New Mexico). This open house is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20 from 5:30 p.m. to7:00 p.m., including opening remarks from the Neuro-Spine team, a spine health challenge, facility tours, and refreshments.

The program is largely comprised of two areas of focus: a specialized inpatient process and community education. Free monthly back and neck health seminars will be offered by the Neuro-Spine team beginning in October 2013. This education seminar emphasizes conservative measures for dealing with back and neck pain. Should these measures be unsuccessful, invasive options are also discussed. This free community seminar will be held on the third Thursday of every month at the San Juan Health Partners Conference Room (407 South Schwartz Avenue in Farmington, New Mexico) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. beginning October 17th 2013. Registration is required via sanjuanregional.com or by calling 505.609.6846.

The second part of the program is a specialized inpatient process. Those needing or electing to have back or neck surgery start a four week pre-operative process that includes testing and education, primary care physician clearance, approval from specialists as necessary, and a consultation with the anesthesia team to ensure each patient is in good health prior to surgery.

“The goal of this comprehensive approach is to set a positive outcome into motion for each patient by providing the safest care possible,” said San Juan Regional Medical Center President and CEO, Rick Wallace. “It also allows the focus to be on the patient the day of surgery and prepares the patient for recovery with a strong support system in place.”

After surgery, patients are cared for by nursing staff and rehabilitation therapists that have been specially trained in optimizing the healing process specifically for back and neck patients. Each professional involved in the patients’ care is focused on achieving the most successful outcome. For more information, join us at our open house on August 20.
